Meditation to heal the damage caused by the earthquake in Morocco
In the evening on Friday, September 9th, a strong Magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Morocco at a shallow depth of 18.5 km. This is the most powerful quake to hit the country in more than 60 years, Its epicenter was located in the High Atlas mountain range, about 72 kilometers (44.7 miles) southwest of Marrakech, a city of about 840,000 people. The worst destruction has been in isolated mountain areas, which are difficult to access. Residents have described whole villages suffering damage and rescuers unable to retrieve bodies from rubble. Emergency workers were deployed to affected regions, despite some roads being damaged or blocked by debris. Some remote villages on the foothills of the mountain have been hard to access.
